Benny’s Donuts is a Corvallis-based donut chain that offers gluten-free and vegan doughnuts. The original opening was March 2021, but the shop quietly closed in March 2022. Since then, the South Salem Benny’s sat vacant, until a new individual approached the Corvallis-based chain about reopening the location. After a couple months of getting signage and preparing the space, the location is now open.

Manager Dom Decarlo said the first owner had to close due to lack of staffing. The labor situation is better now, which he hopes will help the location.

To get doughnuts, roll up to the drive-thru window or walk into the small shop. In addition to gluten-free and vegan doughnuts, folks interested in getting nut allergen-free doughnuts should order a day ahead. Operating hours are Wednesday to Sunday, from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Address: 1120 Royvonne Ave. SE.

In the space of former Breakpoint Coffee Company, new coffee shop Mama’s On The Go Coffee and Bistro opened at the beginning of July.

Breakpoint Coffee Company quietly closed after over a decade of business at the end of May with an announcement on Facebook. The owners thanked their customers and expressed appreciation for supporting them for so long. They also encouraged patrons to support the new owners.

“We will miss serving our amazing customers,” the post concluded. “We so appreciate all the support over our many years. Be safe out there and God bless!”

Mama’s On The Go Bistro, like Breakpoint, offers coffee, tea, sandwiches, soups, salads and some dessert items. The new ownership continues to serve folks in the drive-thru built into the side of the establishment. The owners did not respond to the Statesman for comment.
