If you’ve been on TikTok recently, you’ve probably come across the latest food trend: the butter board.

At its most basic level, the butter board is exactly what it sounds like — butter, on a board. Typically served alongside some variation of carb like bread or crackers, softened butter is graciously slathered on a wooden board, worked into decorative patterns. The real main attraction of the board is its toppings; cinnamon and sugar, figs and walnuts, and olives and peppers are just a few of the many combinations that have been paired with these sweet, savory, and buttery boards.

Introducing the North Fork Butter Board: our local take on the trend with ingredients sourced entirely from the North Fork. Inspired by Main Road Biscuit’s infamous honey butter, we decided to create a honey butter board using local honey from North Breeze Farms, fresh butter from Goodale Farms, garlic cloves from Herricks Lane Farm, fresh herbs from the garden, and homemade buttermilk biscuits from Main Road Biscuit. Whether you’re hosting a fall party or looking for something to bring to a dinner with friends, this sweet and savory local spread is sure to impress.

North Fork-Inspired Honey Butter Board

  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 4 oz softened, unsalted butter
  • 2-3 tbsp honey
  • 4 large biscuits
  • 1 tsp fresh cracked pepper
  • 2 tsp fresh thyme
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • edible flowers
  • Spread butter onto a clean serving board. The butter should be soft, but not melted. For a texured look, apply in gobs and use the back of a spoon to flatten them out and create dips.

  • Drizzle local honey onto the board.

  • Sprinkle the rest of the toppings onto the board.

  • Cut the biscuits as desired and serve on the side. Enjoy!
